Tension & Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®)

TRE® supports health, well-being, and harmony with a practical and effective technique that reduces stress and tension, helping the body and nervous system return to a healthy state.

Created by Dr. David Bercelli, PhD, TRE® safely activates the body’s natural reflex of shaking or vibrating. When this process occurs in a safe and supported environment, the body naturally returns to a state of balance and calm.

How can I learn TRE®?

It is advised to learn TRE®  with a trained provider who can help you to learn the exercises, and know how to manage and regulate some of the responses you may experience. Once familiar, after 4-5 sessions, you can use this system as a self-practice to support you through life in your daily need to regulate your emotional and physical systems. 

More than this, over time our habitual stress patterns can release the hold they have and we can begin the process of reconnection and the transformation we seek. 

You can learn TRE in Group and Individual Sessions - in person or online in the comfort of you own home. Group Sessions are great for learning the exercises, how to self regulate and it can feel good for some to be a part of a community. 

It is also highly recommended that you go for some Individual Sessions as it allows the TRE Provider to work with you specifically and follow your unique process of releasing stress, trauma and tension from your body. *

* It is best to opt for an Individual Session if you’re dealing with a lot of trauma in your life or have mental health difficulties.

Safety and Guidance

TRE® is generally safe and effective for most people. However, individuals with specific physical or psychological conditions, a complex trauma history, or medical limitations should consult a Certified TRE® Provider or medical practitioner before performing these exercises.

TRE® is not a substitute for medical or psychological trauma recovery procedures.
